Leo is originally from Sointula, and is happy to be back living on the north island with his family! After graduating from North Island Secondary School Leo went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Victoria. After working in the field as a kinesiologist Leo went back to school to obtain a Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of British Columbia.
Since completing his physical therapy certification, Leo has continued to pursue additional training so that he may provide his patient's with the standard of care they deserve. To date, he has completed his level 3 examinations through the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, and continues to work towards his Advanced Diploma of Manual and Manipulative therapy. He has also completed training to provide intramuscular stimulation (IMS) through Foundations Health Education. This past year Leo completed Diane Lee's Integrated Systems Model (ISM) certification. This training allows the Physiotherapist to truly assess and treat their patient as a whole to provide the best outcome possible.
Throughout his time at university, and while working in his respective fields, Leo also had the opportunity to gain invaluable experience working in a variety of settings. These include: Victoria Racquet Club Minor Hockey Association, Move Adapted Fitness, Special Olympics Victoria, and Volleyball Canada.
Leo believes every person requires different treatment strategy and that an individualized comprehensive assessment should guide all treatments. He uses manual therapy and exercise prescription to empower his clients to achieve their personal health and performance goals. He looks forward to working with the residents of the North Island and surrounding communities.
